Sailors compete in Danmark Trophy

NEW LONDON, Conn.--Five HWS sailors teamed up to place ninth in the annual Danmark Trophy hosted by the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. The team recorded a weekend score of 317 to beat out nine other teams in the competition. Dartmouth sailed to first place finish with a low score of 207, followed by Brown and Kings Point.

Senior Ed Norton (Tabor Academy/Fair Haven, N.J.) and sophomores Augusta Nadler (Tabor Academy/Marion, Mass.) and Justin Bauer (Portsmouth Abbey/Burlington, Conn.) finished in 11th place in the A Division with a score of 173 edging the team from Yale. The trio recorded five top five finishes in the weekend’s races.

In the B Division, seniors John Pearce (Ithaca/Ithaca, N.Y.) and Alexis Rubin (Edmund Burke/Potomac, Md.) recorded a seventh place finish out of 18 teams with a score of 144. The pair finished in the top five six times and earned a win in the 13th race.
