WASHINGTON-- The Hobart and William Smith sailing team finished fifth
at the Georgetown Team Race Regatta this weekend. On the first day of
competition 45 races were sailed in a moderate breeze inside the Washington
Sailing Marina lagoon. On the second day of competition the 10 teams were
split into two groups, the top-six and the consolation four. The consolation
division sailed a single round robin and the championship six sailed a
double round robin. The 36 races were sailed SSW winds of 3-10 knots.
Sailing for HWS: junior Sam Rogers (Breck School/Excelsior, Minn.), sophomore
Ed Norton (Tabor Academy/Fair Haven, N.J.), sophomore John Pearce (Ithaca/Ithaca,
N.Y.), sophomore Alexis Rubin (Edmund Burke/Potomac, Md.), sophomore Oscar
Barney (Marshfield/Coos Bay, Ore.), senior Keara Watson (Phillips Academy/Gloucester,
Mass.), junior Amanda Callahan (Notre Dame/Canton, Mass.)
