Heron sailors sixth at Duplin Trophy

MEDFORD, Mass.—Four William Smith College sailors competed in the Joseph R. Duplin Trophy at Tufts University this past weekend, earning sixth place of 14 teams. St. Mary’s proved to be the best team on the weekend, scoring a low 102 points.

Racing in the A division for William Smith were seniors Sonya Smith (Falmouth/Falmouth, Mass.) and Sarah Hawkins (Barrington/Barrington, R.I.). Scoring 112 points in 14 races, the pair finished in ninth place and just three points out of the eighth spot.

Junior Mora O’Malley (Totino Grace/Dellwood, Minn.) and sophomore Emily Barkow (University Lake School/Nashotah, Wis.) joined forces in the B division, garnering a seventh place finish with 95 points.
