HWS 3rd at MAISA Open

ANNAPOLIS, Md.—The third-ranked Hobart and William Smith Colleges’ sailing team totaled 121 points to take third place of 11 teams at the Mid Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association Open hosted by the Naval Academy this past weekend. The host Cadets clinched top honors with a low score of 65, while Georgetown earned the runner-up spot with 95 points.

Representing HWS in A division racing were sophomore driver Zach Goldman (Lutheran/Huntington, N.Y.) and sophomore crew Justin Bauer (Portsmouth Abbey/Burlington, Conn.). The pair captured five top-three finishes in 15 races for sixth place with 71 points.

In the B fleet sophomore driver Amory Ross (Middlesex/Basking Ridge, N.J.) and first-year crew Nate Owen (Upper Arlington/Columbus, Ohio) took runner-up honors with 50 points on eight top-three finishes, including a pair of victories.
