HWS captures St. Mary's College Open title

October 4, 2002

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart and William Smith sailing team continued its winning ways this past weekend, capturing the St. Mary’s College Open title, hosted by St. Mary’s College of Maryland. HWS finished the day with 124 points, while its closest competitor, Georgetown was 22 points back.

Junior John Pearce (Ithaca/Ithaca, N.Y.) and senior Amanda Callahan (Notre Dame Academy/Canton, Mass.) sailed in the A division. They earned second place with 73 points, only three behind top finisher Georgetown.

Racing in the B division, sophomore Eric Oppen (Oromo/Wayzata, Minn.) and junior Alexis Rubin (Edmund Burke/Potomac, Md.) took the top place with 51 points, including six wins.
