HWS sailing team competes at Kings Point Spring Open

March 30, 2003

KINGS POINT, N.Y.—The Hobart and William Smith sailing team competed at the Kings Point Spring Open this past weekend, finishing in seventh of 17 teams. Fighting tough conditions, racing was called for the day after just seven races. USMMA-Kings Point captured the title with a low score of 30.

Senior Matt Herbster (Brewster Academy/Manchester, Mass.) and first-year Tyler Sandberg (Brewster Academy/Riverside, Conn.) teamed up in the A division, finishing in sixth place. Racing against the cold and wind, the pair garnered two top-five finishes in seven races.

Competing in the B division, sophomore Lee Sacket (Gilmour Academy/Mentor, Ohio) and first-year Robert Aspinswall (Tabor Academy/Darien, Conn.) took seventh place with 48 points, just one point behind the team from Cornell.
