March 15, 2004

THROGS NECK, N.Y.—Seven Hobart and William Smith sailors joined forces to capture the runner-up spot in the Admiral Moore Regatta hosted by New York Maritime College. Brown finished atop the standings at the end of the weekend with a low score of 80, while HWS notched 101 points to edge out third place MIT by three points.

Sailing in the A division for HWS were senior Jeff Sullivan (McQuaid/Rochester, N.Y.), junior Lee Sackett (Gilmour Academy/Mentor, Ohio), and sophomore Zach Goldman (Lutheran/Huntington, N.Y.). The trio finished among the top-three three times, including a victory in the sixth race, scoring 51 points for second place.

First-years Trevor Moore (Woodstock Union/Pomfret, Vt.), Brian Clancy (Boston College/Scituate, Mass.), and Kate Brush (Champlain Valley Union/Hinesburg, Vt.) and Goldman competed in the B division racing. They raced their way to four top-five finishes, including a win in the seventh race. Their 50 points was second behind Brown’s low score of 35.
