HWS wins MAISA Sloop Championship

ANANPOLIS, Md.--The Hobart and William Smith sailing team captured its first Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association Sloop Championship. The win qualifies HWS for the ICSA Sloop National Championship, Nov. 1-3 at Brown University.

Seniors Matt Herbster (Brewster Academy/Manchester, Mass.), Sam Rogers (Breck School/Excelsior, Minn.), and Rob Storck (Northport/Northport, N.Y.), junior Jeff Sullivan (McQuaid/Rochester, N.Y.), and sophomore John Storck (St. Anthony's/Huntington, N.Y.) won three of the weekend's 10 races, while finishing in the top-3 seven times.

HWS will make its fourth appearance in the ICSA Sloop National Championship (1997, 2000, 2001).
