Sailors place 5th at NY Maritime

FORT SCHUYLER, N.Y.--The Hobart and William Smith sailing team finished fifth out of 17 teams at the New York Maritime Regatta. Four sailors combined for a score of 148 to round out the top five following St.Mary’s, N.Y. Maritime, Columbia, and Queen’s, respectively.

Racing in the A Division, first-year Brian Clancy (Boston College/Soituate, Mass.) and junior Kate Kana (Gunston School/Easton, Md.) recorded a fifth place finish with a score of 76 to edge out the host N.Y. Maritime team. The pair finished in the top five six times, including three wins, in 14 races.

The combination of senior Jeff Sullivan (McQuaid/Rochester, N.Y.) and first-year Mandie Markee (Torrey Pines/Sante Fe, Calif.) finished fourth in the B Division with a score of 72. They posted 11 top-five finishes and two wins.
