HWS competes at Owen Trophy

March 29, 2004

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The Hobart and William Smith sailing team competed at the Owen Trophy hosted by Brown University this past weekend, finished 11th of 16 teams with 155 points. Harvard grabbed the top spot with a low score of 73.

Junior Lee Sackett (Gilmour Academy/Mentor, Ohio) and senior Oscar Barney (Marshfield/Coos Bay, Ore.) captured fourth place with five top-five finishes in the A division, including a victory in the first race.

Manning the B division, first-year John Keating (Main Land Regional/Linwood, N.J.) and sophomore Rob Aspinwall (Tabor Academy/Darien, Conn.) ended the weekend in 15th place with 117 points.

Ranked 10th in the latest poll, HWS will compete in the Boston Dinghy Cup and the North Spring #1 regattas next weekend.
