ANNAPOLIS, Md..-- The Hobart sailing team sent three sailors to the Navy Laser Open on Sept. 8-9; sophomore John Pearce, junior Bobby Storck, and first-year John Storck. Pearce finished third overall, qualifying for the MAISA Men's Singlehanded Championship at Queen's University on Oct. 6-7. The top six finishers each qualified.

On the first day of competition, 13 races were sailed on port-trapezoid courses in a light breeze from the southeast. On Sunday, seven more races were sailed in similar conditions.
