Sailing team wins HWS Fall Intersectional

October 12, 2003

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart and William Smith sailing team posted its second consecutive win at its own HWS Fall Intersectional this past weekend. Five sailors combined to score a regatta-low 23 points for the victory in the 16-team event. Navy grabbed the runner-up spot with 70 points, while St. Mary’s rounded out the top three.

Racing in the A division for the Colleges were senior Ed Norton (Tabor Academy/Fair Haven, N.J.) and sophomores Augusta Nadler (Tabor Academy/Marion, Mass.) and Zach Goldman (Lutheran/Huntington, N.Y.). The trio was victorious in five of the eight races and never finished lower than third.

Juniors Lee Sackett (Gilmour Academy/Mentor, Ohio) and Oscar Barney (Marshfield/Coos Bay, Ore.) equaled their teammates’ performance with five wins in the B division and earning no lower than second in the eight races.
