HWS wins Salisbury Open

March 17, 2002

SALISBURY, Md.-- The Hobart and William Smith sailing team won its second event of the spring at the Salisbury Open. Light wins limited competition to just two races in each the A and B divisions on the first day, but steady 12-15 knot northeasterly breezes on the following day allowed racing to finish. The teams sailed Modified Gold Cups and Modified Triangles throughout the weekend. Finishing first in the A division for HWS were seniors Matt Shirilla and Keara Watson with 10 points. First-years Lee Sackett and Kate May won the B division with a score of nine.
