HWS second at Kings Point Fall Dinghy Regatta

October 27, 2003

KINGS POINT, N.Y.—The Hobart and William Smith sailing team continued its successful weekend with a second place finish of 18 teams at the Kings Point Fall Dinghy Regatta. St. Mary’s edged HWS by just two points, scoring a regatta-low 66 points in 22 races. Georgetown rounded out the top three with 103 points.

Competing in the A division for the Colleges were senior Oscar Barney (Marshfield/Coos Bay, Ore.), junior Wiley Wakeman (Groton School/Cohasset, Mass.), and sophomore Rob Aspinwall (Tabor Academy/Darien, Conn.). The trio captured victories twice and never finished below sixth place in the 11 races, taking second to St. Mary’s.

First-year John Keating (Main Land Regional/Linwood, N.J.), Barney, and Aspinwall joined forces in B division racing, grabbing the third spot with 36 points. Garnering wins in the fifth and tenth races, the group never finished lower than seventh in the 11 races.
