HWS sailors sixth at Nevins Trophy

KINGS POINT, N.Y.—Five Hobart and William Smith sailors teamed up this past weekend to finish sixth of 20 teams at the Nevins Trophy regatta hosted by King’s Point. Their 193 points was just one behind fifth-place Dartmouth. Harvard ended the weekend on top with a low score of 124, while Navy and King’s Point took second and third, respectively.

Senior Ed Norton (Tabor Academy/Fair Haven, N.J.) and sophomore Augusta Nadler (Tabor Academy/Marion, Mass.) joined forces to capture the fourth spot in the A Division. Finishing in the top-five four times, including a victory in the final race, the pair edged St. Mary’s by two with 66 points.

Racing in the B Division, seniors John Pearce (Ithaca/Ithaca, N.Y.) and Alexis Rubin (Edmund Burke/Potomac, Md.), garnered six top-five finishes, including a win in the ninth race, for sixth place. Junior John Storck (St. Anthony’s/Huntington, N.Y.) sailed solo in the C Division, grabbing sixth place with five top-five results and a weekend best third place twice.
