Wakeman finishes fourth at MAISA Laser Qualifier

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart and William Smith sailing team placed three individuals in the top-10 at the Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association Laser Qualifier, hosted by Kings Point. The top three individuals qualified for the MAISA Single-handed Championships later this year.

Sophomore Wiley Wakeman ( Groton School/Cohasset, Mass.) was the top finisher for HWS, taking fourth place with 46 points, missing qualifying by only one point. Senior Matt Shirilla (Grosse Point South/ Grosse Point, Mich.) came in sixth, scoring 91 points, while sophomore Lee Sacket (Gilmour Academy/Mentor, Ohio) finished in ninth place with 104 points. Rounding out the finishers for HWS was first-year Tyler Sandberg (Brewster Academy/Riverside, Conn.) in 12th with 131 points.
