April 19, 2004

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The 15th-ranked William Smith College sailing team competed at the Dellenbaugh Trophy this past weekend at Brown University. The Herons closed out the weekend of racing with a 10th-place finish of 14 teams. Yale edged out College of Charleston for top honors, while Dartmouth grabbed the third spot.

Senior Mora O’Malley (Totino Grace/Dellwood, Minn.) and first-year Kirby Williams (Marblehead/Marblehead, Mass.) teamed up in the A division. Capturing two top-five finishes, the pair compiled 127 points for 11th place, just two points out of a top-10 finish.

In the B fleet junior Augusta Nadler (Tabor Academy/Marion, Mass.) and first-year Lauren Anderson (New Canaan/New Canaan, Conn.) tallied 125 points for the 11th spot in the 14-boat competition. They earned three top-five finishes in 14 races, missing 10th place by six points.
