William Smith sailing 7th at Mrs. Hurst Bowl

HANOVER, N.H.—The William Smith sailing team recorded a seventh place finish out of 18 teams at the Mrs. Hurst Bowl hosted by Dartmouth College. The four Herons teamed up to beat out 11 other teams in their charge to stay at the front of the pack. The host Big Green finished with a low score of 112, followed by Tufts and Harvard.

Junior Mora O’Malley (Totino Grace/Dellwood, Minn.) and sophomore Kate May (Cranston East/Cranston, R.I.) teamed up to finish fourth in the A Division with a score of 95, edging out the Harvard squad by three points. The duo placed within the top five in five out of the weekend’s 14 races, including a pair of victories.

In the B Division, sophomore Emile Barkow (University Lake School/Nashotah, Wis.) and sophomore Kate Kana (Gunston School/Easton, Md.) also recorded five top five finishes. They combined to finish ninth in their division with a score of 123.
