Buonvecchio interns in Sports Information

GENEVA, N.Y.--William Smith College senior Melissa Buonvecchio (East Syracuse-Minoa/East Syracuse N.Y.) is interning in the Hobart and William Smith Colleges' Sports Information Department during the 2003 spring term. She will serve as the primary contact for the Hobart and William Smith tennis teams as well as assisting with the Colleges' other 12 sports during the winter and spring seasons.

Buonvecchio was a member of the William Smith soccer team for four seasons and the William Smith basketball team her freshman and sophomore years. She participated in five NCAA tournaments as a Heron. This past fall, William Smith hosted the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Semifinals and Buonvecchio presented a welcoming speech to the participating teams. Sports play a vital role in her life and she will use the internship as an opportunity to use her knowledge and love of sports.

Buonvecchio is scheduled to graduate from William Smith in May with a bachelor's degree in media and society as well as a New York State certification for elementary special education.

Hobart and William Smith Colleges are coordinate, private, liberal arts institutions, located in Geneva, N.Y., the heart of the Finger Lakes Region. The Colleges, which have a combined enrollment of 1,885, offer a remarkably broad array of majors and minors, with a cross-disciplinary flavor intended to better inform both professional and intellectual pursuits. The Colleges are noted also for an ambitious emphasis on international study, and for their programs in community service. Hobart College for men and William Smith College for women share faculty, facilities, and curriculum, but maintain separate dean's offices, athletics programs, student governments, and traditions.
