Czajkowski earns Liberty League hoops honors

Stephanie Czajkowski (Bishop Ludden/Syracuse, N.Y.) was named the Liberty League Women’s Basketball Co-Rookie of the Week this afternoon. She led William Smith to a 2-1 week averaging 14.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, and 2.3 spg.
Czajkowski began the New Year with 15 points and five steals in a 50-43 win at WPI. The following evening in a 74-69 overtime loss at Babson, Czajkowski scored a game-high 17 points on 8-of-15 shooting, while pulling down eight rebounds. She closed out the week with 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds in a 58-52 win at Brockport. For the week, she shot .529 from the floor (18-34), including 1-of-2 from long range.
Czajkowski has started all eight games for the Herons this season, reaching double digits in scoring six times, including a career-high 17 points at Babson on Jan. 4. She is averaging a team-high 6.6 rebounds, while converting 51.9 percent of her shots from the floor.
William Smith (4-4) is back in action at 6 p.m., on Jan. 14, when the Herons travel to Canton for their Liberty League opener at St. Lawrence.
