GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith basketball team had its six-game win streak stopped by visiting Hamilton College 60-53 in Bristol Gym this evening. The Herons slip to 9-5, (4-1 Liberty League), while the Continentals improve to 8-6, 3-2.
William Smith struggled to find its shooting touch, missing 10 of its first 11 shots from the floor and managing just a 30 percent success rate (18-60) for the game. The Herons also committed a season-high 26 turnovers.
Hamilton led 31-23 at the break and used an 11-3 run midway through the second frame to take control of the contest. Sophomore guard Allie Massaro (Lewiston-Porter/Lewiston, N.Y.) scored four of her game-high 15 points during the surge.
William Smith managed to creep within six three times during the final two minutes, but the Continentals were 9-of-10 from the charity stripe down the stretch.
First-years Stephanie Czajkowski (Bishop Ludden/Syracuse, N.Y.) and Marisa Vespa (Immaculate Heart/Watertown, N.Y.) paced the Herons with 12 points each, junior forward Tanya Richvalsky (Mohawk/Mohawk, N.Y.) contributed 10 points. Senior guard Tara Brisson (Bishop Grimes/Syracuse, N.Y.) collected a career-high 15 rebounds for William Smith.

William Smith returns to action at 6 p.m., on Jan. 28, at Vassar College in another Liberty League match up.
