SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.--The William Smith basketball team rolled to a 58-34 Liberty League victory over Skidmore. The Herons forced the Thoroughbreds into 36 turnovers, while holding the host school to just 28 percent shooting.
The Thoroughbreds led early, 10-7, with 12:48 to play in the first half, but the Herons went on a 26-6 run to close out the half. William Smith (10-3, 3-0 Liberty) never trailed from that point on winning its sixth straight game.
Sophomore forward Stephanie Czajkowski (Bishop Ludden/Syracuse, N.Y.) had a double-double with a team-high 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Junior guard Paula Foote (Sidney/Sidney, N.Y.) finished with 10 points and six assists.
Skidmore's (7-8, 1-3 Liberty) Katie Bronson finished with a game-high 14 points and recorded eight rebounds.
William Smith is back in action on Jan. 21, when the Herons travel to Union. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
