Young garners Liberty League award

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith senior guard Pria Young (Council Rock/Richboro, Pa.) was named the Liberty League Women’s Basketball Co-Guard of the Week this afternoon by the league office. In a 2-0 week for the Herons, Young averaged 10.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 7.5 steals.

At Nazareth on Tuesday, she scored nine points, grabbed eight rebounds, and made six steals in a 77-61 win. Against Ithaca on Saturday, Young narrowly missed a double-double, recording a team-high 11 points, a game-high nine steals, six rebounds, and a game-high five assists in a 69-61 triumph. She made three three-pointers against the Bombers and moved into third place on William Smith’s career list for 3FGM with 121.

Through three games, Young leads the Liberty League in steals (6.0/g), is seventh in assists (3.0), 10th in rebounding (6.3), and 19th in scoring (9.0).
