Cunningham named Liberty League Rookie of the Week

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith first-year forward Erin Cunningham (Morris Knolls/Rockaway, N.J.) was named the Liberty League Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week by the conference office this afternoon. It’s the fourth straight week she has been so honored and the sixth time in seven weeks.
Cunningham averaged a team-high 14.5 points and a team-high 7.0 rebounds in a 1-1 weekend for the Herons. At Clarkson on Friday night, Cunningham notched 10 points and seven rebounds, connecting on 5 of 8 shots from the floor. The following afternoon, Cunningham scored a game-high 19 points and collected seven rebounds as the Herons snapped St. Lawrence’s 20-game win streak, 60-47. She was 8 of 11 from the floor against the Saints and shot 68.4 percent for the weekend.
Cunningham is averaging 11.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 0.6 blocked shots per game this season. She is among the conference leaders in field goal percentage (2nd, .516), free throw percentage (2nd, .812), scoring (7th), blocked shots (9th), and rebounding (10th).
William Smith (11-10, 5-6) is back in action on Feb. 13, when the Herons travel to Hamilton. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
