GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College first-year forward Erin Cunningham (Morris Knolls/Rockaway, N.J.) was named the Liberty League Women’s Basketball Co-Rookie of the Week by the conference office for the week ending Feb. 4. It’s the third straight week she has been so honored and the fifth time in six weeks.

Cunningham averaged a team-high 16.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.5 steals in two games for the Herons. Against Union, she posted game-highs in points (13) and rebounds (8), while making two steals. The following afternoon, Cunningham again led all scorers with 19 points, while collecting seven rebounds and handing out three assists. For the weekend, she shot .407 from the floor (11-27) and .769 from the free throw line (10-13).

A starter in 17 of the 19 games she’s played in, Cunningham is enjoying a highly successful rookie campaign. She leads William Smith in field goal percentage (.497), free throw percentage (.815), and blocked shots (0.6/g), and is second in scoring (11.6 ppg) and rebounding (6.5 rpg).

Cunningham ranks in the top 10 in the Liberty League in free throw percentage (2nd), field goal percentage (3rd), scoring (7th), rebounding (10th), and blocked shots (10th).

William Smith (10-9, 4-5 Liberty) is back in action on Feb. 9, when the Herons travel to Clarkson (7-14, 3-7). Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
