GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith junior Stephanie Czajkowski (Bishop Ludden/Syracuse, N.Y.) recently was named to the ESPN The Magazine Women’s Basketball Academic All-District second team. The chemistry and writing & rhetoric double major is the Herons’ leading scorer and rebounder.
Czajkowski is averaging 13.8 points and 7.6 rebounds. She ranks third in the Liberty League in scoring and seventh in rebounding. An accurate shooter, Czajkowski is fourth in the conference in field goal percentage, knocking down 48.6 percent of her shots. She has been named the Liberty League Forward of the Week four times this season, scoring a career-high 25 points at then No. 3 Rochester on Dec. 5 and collecting a career-high 16 rebounds in the season-opener at Keuka.
Czajkowski boasts nine career double-doubles and already ranks 10th in career rebounds (507). The two-time All-Liberty League selection is on pace to become just the 12th Heron to record 1,000 career points.
An exceptional talent in the classroom as well, Czajkowski is a Dean’s List student. She earned the 2005 CRC First-Year Chemistry Achievement Award and the 2006 Award for Achievement in Organic Chemistry. Czajkowski has been a faculty scholar in each of the past two years.
To earn a place on the Academic All-District teams, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average, be a starter or significant reserve, and be at least a sophomore in academic standing.
