Atti named to ECAC Upstate Honor Roll

GENEVA, N.Y.--The Eastern College Athletic Conference named William Smith College basketball player Maria Atti (Kenmore East/Buffalo, N.Y.) to the ECAC Upstate Division III Honor Roll for her play during a 3-0 week for the Herons. The first-year was also named the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association's Rookie of the Week.

Atti averaged 8.3 points per game and 5.0 assists per game with a 3.8 assist to turnover ratio in Heron wins over SUNY-Fredonia, SUNY-Brockport, and Mount St. Mary College. Against the Blue Devils, the guard scored seven points, grabbed six boards, and recorded three assists. She narrowly missed a triple-double against the Golden Eagles with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists. Atti netted six points, assisted on three baskets, and pulled in three rebounds in William Smith's come-from-behind-win over the Knights. She is fifth on the team in scoring at 7.8 points per game, leads the team and is third in the UCAA with 3.0 steals per game, and is second on the team and third in the league with 4.0 assists per game.

After a month off, the Herons (5-1) resume play on Jan. 4-5, at the Frostburg State Tournament.
