GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith sophomore guard Tara Brisson (Bishop Grimes/Liverpool, N.Y.) was named to the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic Team. She was one of 20 women’s basketball players honored by the conference for excellence in the classroom and on the court.

A starter in seven of the 15 games she’s played in, Brisson leads the Herons in assists with 35 and is fourth in scoring, contributing 6.1 per game. She’s scored a career-high 13 points three times this season, including a 13-point, six-rebound effort at Buffalo State on Jan. 14.

Student-athletes from the conference schools were selected to the team based on the following criteria: sophomore academic standing, at least a 3.2 grade point average, and on the team roster for the academic year.

William Smith has a 3-4 record against the UCAA this season, and a 7-9 mark overall. The Herons return to action this evening in a non-conference game at Cazenovia. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
