Drury joins Herons’ hoops staff

Lindsay Drury

March 27, 2003

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College Basketball Head Coach Glenn Begly recently announced the appointment of Lindsay Drury as the Herons assistant coach for the 2003-04 season. A 2001 graduate of Kalamazoo College in Michigan, Drury was a four-year member of the Kalamazoo College women’s basketball team.

“I’m very pleased and excited that Lindsay will be joining our program,” Begly said. “She brings a high level of energy and a wealth of experience that will really benefit our new and returning players.”

A two-time All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) selection, Drury is one of the top players in Hornets history. She graduated 11th on the school’s career scoring list with 718 points, and was just the fourth player to record more than 500 rebounds (505). Drury averaged 7.1 ppg and 5.0 rpg, playing in 101 contests. She served as a team captain during both her junior and senior seasons.

During her four seasons, Drury helped Kalamazoo to a 56-47 record, including back-to-back 18-8 seasons to close out her career.

A 2001 graduate of Kalamazoo, Drury earned a bachelor’s degree in human development and social relations. She also spent a semester studying Mexican history, language, art, and culture at Universidad Autonoma Benito Juarez de Oaxaca.

Drury joins the William Smith staff after spending the past year as a sales and marketing associate with ANC Sports Enterprises in Boston, Mass. With ANC, she supported the company’s Dunkin’ Donuts account, including the KidsZone program and the Sports Dreams promotion. In her spare time, Drury served as an assistant coach for the girls’ varsity basketball team at Brookline High School.

William Smith returns 10 letterwinners and four starters from last season. Featuring a very young roster, the Herons posted a 9-15 record in 2002-03. William Smith begins its 33rd season on Nov. 25, at Cazenovia. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
