ATLANTA—The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association and the Eastman Kodak Company recently announced the finalist for the 2003 NCAA Division III Kodak All-America team. William Smith College senior forward Laura Hadwin (Vestal/Vestal, N.Y.) was among the 40 student-athletes being considered for All-American honors.

The 10 members of the 2003 All-America team will be announced later this month. The other 30 players will receive honorable mention.

The 2003 Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Year, Hadwin led the conference in scoring (19.3 ppg), ranked second in field goal percentage (.510), third in free throw percentage (.798), and fourth in rebounding (8.5 rpg). She reached double digits in points in all 24 games this season, including a career-high 35 points on Jan. 18, against Hamilton.

Hadwin finished her career with 1,288 points and 644 rebounds, placing her sixth on both career lists. A three-year starter, she holds the William Smith record for free throws made in a season (138 in ’02-03) and in a career (396). During her four seasons, she helped William Smith to a 63-41 record and appearances in the NCAA Tournament (2000) and the ECAC Upstate Tournament (2002).

Since 1995, William Smith has had six players earn eight Kodak/WBCA All-American awards, including first-team selections Jennifer Goodell ’97 (1996 & ’97) and Liz Brown ’00 (2000).

Kodak recognizes the accomplishments of young athletes and the positive recognition they bring to their school by displaying their talents on the basketball floor.

“For the past 29 years, Kodak has been proud to partner with the WBCA in honoring the best women’s collegiate players as Kodak/WBCA All-Americans,” said Bud Denker, director and vice president of brand and market development. “We acknowledge the accomplishments of these student-athletes and the positive recognition they bring to their schools, their communities and the game.”
