Hadwin named Forward of the Week

GENEVA, N.Y.–William Smith College basketball player Laura Hadwin (Vestal/Vestal, N.Y.) was recognized by the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association for her play during a 2-0 week for the Herons. The junior was named the league's Forward of the Week.

Hadwin scored a game-high 23 points in William Smith's season-opening 68-42 win at Cazenovia College on Nov. 20. She also grabbed six boards and recorded two steals. In the Herons' home-opening 104-71 victory over Manhattanville College on Nov. 25, the forward again led all scorers with 20 points. She recorded five steals, four rebounds, and two assists against the Valiants. Hadwin leads William Smith and the UCAA in points per game with 21.5. She is second in the league in field goal percentage with .607.

The Herons (2-0) travel to SUNY-Fredonia tonight for a 7 p.m., contest. William Smith is at home for its next two games. The Herons host SUNY-Brockport on Nov. 30, at 6 p.m., and Mount St. Mary on Dec. 1 at 2 p.m.
