GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College senior forward Laura Hadwin (Vestal/Vestal, N.Y.) turned in two sterling performances to open the basketball season and was named the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Co-Forward of the Week. She averaged 27.5 points per game in a 1-1 weekend for the Herons.

Hadwin played all 80 minutes, scoring 55 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. William Smith won its season opener in the Nazareth Holiday Inn Airport Tournament over Mount St. Mary 62-58 led by Hadwin’s game-high 30 points on 10 of 12 shooting from the floor and 10 of 11 from the free throw line. The following afternoon against Nazareth, she netted 25 points on 11 of 16 shooting and 3 of 4 from the line. For the weekend she shot 75 percent from the floor and 86.7 percent from the stripe and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Hadwin needs 121 more points to become just the 11th Heron to record 1,000 during her career.
