GENEVA, N.Y.—For the second consecutive week, William Smith first-year Ashely Rodger (Waterloo/Waterloo, N.Y.) was named the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week. Rodger averaged 12.0 ppg and 7.7 rpg, while shooting 44 percent from the floor, 50 percent from beyond the arc, and 76.5 percent from the free throw line in three games this week for the Herons.

Against Cortland on Tuesday, she scored 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting and 4-of-6 from the line and collected a team-high seven boards in a 61-54 loss to the Red Dragons. On Friday against Skidmore, Rodger recorded 10 points and pulled down five rebounds in a 23-point win over the Thoroughbreds. She closed out the week with her third double double of the season, notching 12 points and 11 rebounds in a 67-62 loss to league-leading Union. For the week, Rodger was 11-of-25 from the floor, 1-of-2 from beyond the arc, and 13-of-17 from the charity stripe.

Through 14 games, Rodger leads William Smith in field goal percentage (.480) and rebounding (8.4 rpg), and is second in scoring (9.4 ppg). In the conference, she ranks second in rebounding, sixth in field goal percentage, 11th in free throw percentage (.667), and 17th in scoring. Rodger is on pace to become just the second Heron first-year to record more than 200 rebounds, 210, 13 shy of the rookie record.

William Smith (7-7, 2-2 UCAA) is back in action at 6 p.m., on Jan. 27, at Hamilton.
