Young named UCAA Rookie of the Week

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College first-year Pria Young (Council Rock/Richboro, Pa.) was named the UCAA Rookie of the Week this afternoon. In a 2-0 week for the Herons, Young averaged 20.0 points, connecting on 53.6 percent of her shots, including 53.8 percent from beyond the three-point arc.
Against the Savannah College of Art and Design, Young scored a career-high 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting and all three of her shots from behind the arc to lead the Herons to a 25-point victory. The following afternoon against the University of Dallas, she once again netted a career-high with 21 points on 8-of-17 shooting, including 4-of-10 from long range. For the weekend, she hit all three of her free throws and grabbed seven rebounds.
William Smith is 3-2 this season and returns to action tonight at 7 p.m., at Trinity College in San Antonio, Texas.
