GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith crew will head to St. Lawrence University on April 23, for the Liberty League Championships on the St. Lawrence River.

With wins in the varsity eight, the second varsity eight, and the varsity four, the Herons captured the inaugural conference crown by six points over Vassar College in Saratoga Springs last season. William Smith’s varsity eight is the only Liberty League boat ranked in the US Rowing Division III coaches poll. Sophomore Nicole Balsamo (Newton Country Day/Centerville, Mass.), sophomore Laura Batchelor (Brookline/Brookline, Mass.), sophomore Lauren Brady (Westover School/Ridgefield, Conn.), first-year Courtney Cioffredi (Lebanon/Lebanon, N.H.), sophomore Mandy Lassell (Noble & Greenough/Walpole, Mass.), first-year Jessica Mahon (Rhinebeck/Rhinebeck, N.Y.), junior Cassie Priest (King & Low-Heywood Thomas/Stamford, Conn.), sophomore Liz Staino (Poughkeepsie/Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), and junior Edwina Wilson (Churchill/Westport, Conn.) have guided the Heron varsity eight to No. 13 in the nation.

Racing is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. with the first of two varsity eight preliminary heats and run through 2:30 p.m. with the novice eight final.
