GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith varsity eight was named the Liberty League Women’s Crew Boat of the Week by the conference office this afternoon. The Herons also won the first conference Boat of the Week award two weeks ago.

In the varsity eight race, William Smith’s top boat of first-year Kenzie Cannon (Berkshire/Canaan, Conn.), senior Rebecca Gutwin (Champlain Valley Union/Williston, Vt.), senior Frances Parsons (Hoosac School/Liverpool, N.Y.), sophomore Hannah Gallup (Holy Names/Alameda, Calif.), sophomore Jess Mahon (Rhinebeck/Rhinebeck, N.Y.), senior Cassie Priest (King & Low-Heywood Thomas/Stamford, Conn.), junior Nicole Balsamo (Newton Country Day/Centerville, Mass.), sophomore Jenn Kirst (Principia/Darien, Conn.), and first-year Kerry O’Neill (Brighton/Rochester, N.Y.) enjoyed an open water win over RIT, covering the 2,000-meter course in 7:25.9. The Herons crossed the finish line 29 seconds ahead of the Tigers.

William Smith is back on the water April 22, when the Herons compete in Saratoga Springs.
