Gallup earns RACA honor

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College junior Hannah Gallup (Holy Names/Alameda, Calif.) was recently named the Rochester Area College Athletics (RACA) Co-Female Athlete of the Week. A stroke on the crew team, Gallup led the Herons at the New York State Rowing Championships last weekend at Whitney Point, N.Y.
The William Smith varsity eight won its first gold medal in the NYS Rowing Championships since 2000. The varsity boat for the Herons, ranked second in the nation, finished the 2,000-meter course in a time of six minutes, 56.6 seconds, more than six seconds ahead of runner-up Ithaca.
William Smith will be back on the water of Whitney Point Lake on May 12-13 for the ECAC Rowing Championships.
