GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith crew Head Coach Sandra Chu recently announced captains for the 2007-08 season. Soon-to-be seniors Lucinda Keck (The Lawrenceville School/Pennington, N.J.), Jessica Wojslaw (Norwalk/Norwalk, Conn.), and Jessica Mahon (Rhinebeck/Rhinebeck, N.Y.) were elected by their teammates, in a three-way tie, to lead the team next season.

“I have the utmost confidence in the leadership of these individuals,” said Chu. “They will take their responsibilities seriously and work to ensure the momentum we have created this season. Their different leadership styles will compliment each other in their pursuit of excellence, sense of humor, passion for rowing, and immense love for their teammates. The team has respectfully placed their faith in these women and I know they will not be disappointed.”

Keck sits in the varsity eight, and has been a member of the varsity team for three years, while Wojslaw occupies a seat on the second varsity eight, and earned her varsity spot in the spring of 2005. Both were members of the 2005 Liberty League Novice Boat of the Year and earned the crew coaches’ Beyond Her Limits Award at the 2005 Annual William Smith Athletics Awards Banquet. Last season, they won gold at the New York State Championships, and helped the team win the Liberty League title by winning the second varsity eight event.

Sidelined by a shoulder injury this season, Mahon was a member of the varsity eight her first two seasons. In 2005, she was a member of the Liberty League Varsity Boat of the Year, and earned honors as the team’s most valuable rower. Mahon also serves as captain for the current season.
