MERCER, N.J.--The William Smith crew completed its season at the ECAC National Invitational Rowing Championships on the Cooper River this weekend. Both the varsity eight and the novice eight placed third in their respective third level finals.

The Heron varsity eight struggled in their opening day heat, finishing sixth. In Sunday's third level final, William Smith improved its time by nearly two seconds, besting the boats from Bates, Dayton, and Tulane.

"After a disappointing heat on Saturday, I was really impressed with the way the varsity eight rallied to finish third in the third level final on Sunday," Coach Sandra Chu said. "They took their rowing to a new level."
