Statesmen, Herons strong at Head of the Schuylkill

PHILADELPHIA, Pa .–The Hobart and William Smith Colleges crews wrapped up their fall schedules with impressive showings in their first appearance at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia. The Statesmen and Herons came near the back of the pack to earn respectable finishes against some of the top teams in the country.

Hobart finished 13th in both the Championship Eights and the Novice Eights events. The Statesmen finished with a time of 13:28.62 in Championship Eights competition and 14:25.46, the top Division II-III finishers in each race.

In the Novice Eights event William Smith finished 10th in the 48-team field with a time of 16:48.05. The Heron novice eight was the top Division II-III finisher in the event.

In Championship Eights the Herons also finished 10th with a time of 15:15.22. William Smith finished behind only one other Division II-III team in the event.

The Hobart and William Smith crew teams open their spring campaigns against RIT on March 30.
