Heron crew ranked 2nd; HWS crew to host RIT race

GENEVA, N.Y. – The William Smith College crew team climbed to No. 2 in the latest Collegiate Rowing Coaches Division III poll after a strong showing against top-ranked Williams College and current No. 3 Ithaca College on April 6.
The Herons fell just 1.6 seconds short of stunning the No. 1 Ephs, but topped the Bombers by three seconds with a time of 7:56.0. William Smith’s Varsity Eight fell behind early before passing Ithaca and closing to within a few feet of Williams during the race's final 500 meters.
The Hobart and William Smith crew teams’ race against RIT in Rochester on April 13, has been moved to the Cayuga-Seneca Canal in Waterloo. The Colleges will host the competition which is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.
