Herons 2nd at State Championships

WHITNEY POINT, N.Y.--The William Smith College crew team finished just .02 seconds shy of winning their sixth New York State Rowing Championship in seven years. The Heron Varsity Eight battled Ithaca down the course to a photo finish. William Smith was second in the 19-team field. The Heron Junior Varsity placed fifth. William Smith is in contention for a spot in the first NCAA Division III Women's Rowing Championships at Indianapolis, Ind., on May 31-June 2. NCAA bids will be announced on May 14.
