8th-ranked Herons split with Williams, Ithaca

ITHACA, N.Y.--The eighth-ranked William Smith College crew team fell just 1.6 seconds short of stunning No. 1 Williams College, but topped No. 2 Ithaca by three seconds with a time of 7:56.0. The Heron Varsity Eight fell behind early before passing the Bombers and closing to within a few feet of the Ephs during the race's final 500 meters. In the Novice Eight competition, William Smith finished second, posting a time of 8:24.2. The Heron Varsity Four crew finished third with a time of 9:44.8. William Smith is back in action on April 13, at RIT.
