RIT upsets Heron crew
April 13, 2002
GENEVA, N.Y.--The 14th-ranked RIT crew team shocked No. 2 William Smith College, edging the Herons by two seconds. After moving out to an early lead William Smith fell behind on the turn and never recovered. In the final 250 meters the Herons closed in on RIT, but the comeback came up a few seats short. The William Smith Second Varsity Eight was defeated by an even slimmer margin in the next race. The Herons look to return to form on April 20, when they travel to Saratoga Springs to meet Colgate and Skidmore.
