Herons finish 6th at Anderson Invitational

ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The William Smith cross country team took sixth place out of 11 teams at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational, which was hosted by Roberts Wesleyan, over the weekend. Roberts Wesleyan finished first followed by RIT.
Junior Leanne Roncolato (Meadville/Meadville, Pa.) earned an eighth place finish out of 108 runners by covering the 5k course with a season-best time of 20:06.5. She has paced the Herons’ in all five races this season. Senior Jen Strong (Honeoye/Honeoye, N.Y.) turned in a strong performance, registering a season-low time of 21:05.8 for a 25th place finish. Junior Kate Chabot (Keene/Keene, N.H.) edged out Oswego State first-year Renee Coe for 28th place (21:22.7).
William Smith returns to action on Oct. 22 as they travel to the Saratoga Invitational. The event is scheduled for an 1:30 p.m. start.
