Herons second at Hobart Invitational

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College had five runners finish among the top-20 to earn a runner-up finish with 65 points at the annual Hobart Cross Country Invitational today. Clarkson captured the team title with a low score of 26, while Potsdam State’s Jodi Schoppmann (Island Trees/Levittown, N.Y.) was the first across the line with a 6k time of 22:38.
Sophomore Leanne Roncolato (Meadville/Meadville, Pa.) crossed the finish line first for the Herons in 12th place of 53 runners with a time of 25:24. Less than a minute later a pack of William Smith runners touched the tape. Pacing each other across the 6k course, junior Kate Chabot (Keene/Keene, N.H.) turned in a time of 26:14 for 15th place, while sophomore Jen Strong (Honeyoe/Honeyoe, N.Y.) came in six seconds later in 26:20.
Grabbing the 17th and 18th spots, junior Amanda Condello (Irondequoit/Rochester, N.Y.) and first-year Morgan MacCuaig (Rutland/Mendon, Vt.) rounded out the tip five with times of 26:37 and 26:41, respectively.
William Smith runs again on Sept. 25, traveling to the St. Lawrence Invitational.
