Herons run at Pat Peterson Invitational
September 11, 2004 OSWEGO, N.Y.—The William Smith College cross country team competed in the Pat Peterson Invitational hosted by Oswego State this past weekend, finishing 8th of 12 teams. Edging out Potsdam by just one point, the Herons finished the afternoon with 243 points. Geneseo captured the title with a low score of 27.
Pacing William Smith for the afternoon was sophomore Leanne Roncolato (Meadville/Meadville, Pa.) with a time of 21:13 for 50th place of 136 runners. Next across the line for the Herons was junior Kathryn Chabot (Keene/Keene, N.H.), covering the 5k course in 21:42, while first-year Morgan MacCuaig (Rutland/Mendon, Vt.) turned in a season-best time of 22:11.
Junior Amanda Condello (Irondequoit/Rochester, N.Y.) and sophomore Jen Strong (Honeyoe/Honeyoe, N.Y.) paced each other throughout the race, crossing the line in 22:41 and 22:45, respectively. Sophomore Jenna Rubinoff (Ridgewood/Ridgewood, N.J.) and first-year Caitlin Caron (Woburn/Woburn, Mass.) rounded out the Heron runners, with respective times of 24:18 and 24:47.
The Herons return to action on Sept. 18, at the Hobart Invitational. The race is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
