Herons run at Saratoga Invitational

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The William Smith cross country team competed in the Saratoga Invitational this past weekend, finishing ninth of 12 teams. St. Lawrence, ranked 22nd in the nation, took first place with a low score of 37 points, six better than runner-up Ithaca.
Pacing the Herons once again was sophomore Leanne Roncolato with a 5k time of 20:08 for 38th place of 124 runners. Sophomore Jen Strong and junior Katie Chabot crossed the line next for William Smith, finishing just three seconds apart in 20:41 and 20:44, respectively.
First-year Morgan MacCuaig turned in her best 3.1 mile performance of the season, covering the course in 21:08, 37 seconds better than her previous best. Junior Amanda Condello rounded out the top five for the William Smith harriers by eclipsing her season best 5k run by 58 seconds with a time of 21:43.
The Herons return to Geneva next weekend to host the annual Heron Invitational. Their race is schedule to begin at 11 a.m.
