GENEVA, N.Y.—Two William Smith cross country runners were honored by the Liberty League this afternoon. Senior Leanne Roncolato (Meadville/Meadville, Pa.) and first-year Katie Pietrak (Nardin Academy/Amherst, N.Y.) were named the conference’s Performer of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

Roncolato led the Herons across the finish line for the 20th consecutive time, placing 51st out of 139 runners in the Dan Walker Invitational hosted by Buffalo State. She covered the 5-kilometer course in 21:07.

Pietrak was the second William Smith runner across the finish line in her first collegiate race. She covered the course in 21:39, placing 63rd.

The Herons are back in action on Sept. 9, when they compete in the Oswego State Invitational. The race is scheduled to begin at noon.
