Herons compete in Roberts Wesleyan Invitational

ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The William Smith cross country team participated in the Harry F. Anderson Invitational at Roberts Wesleyan College last Saturday. The team recorded an eighth-place finish.
Junior Morgan MacCuaig (Rutland/Mendon, Vt.) completed the 5-kilometer race in a time of 21:39 to come in 31st out of 83 runners. First-years Katie Pietrak (Nardin Academy/Amherst, N.Y.) and Liz Mills (Tully/Lafayette, N.Y.) came in 40th and 41st, respectively, while sophomore Cathleen Zupan (Cazenovia/Cazenovia, N.Y.) followed right behind to take 42nd place. Zupan recorded a season-best 5-k time of 22:01, beating her previous best by 32 seconds (22:33).
The Herons will return to action on Oct. 21 when they compete in the Saratoga Invitational. The race is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
